iPhone Duo
The best games for iPhone Duo: 10 that use the fold or the big screen
Short answer: Twofold, kami and Tumble use iPhone Duo the most. On 9 October 2026 we found 10 games whose makers say in writing that they support it. Twofold hides each player's board under the half-folded screen, kami folds paper with the hinge, and Tumble splits its board around the fold. Chonky Corgo (ours) is #3, and its Duo version is still in testing.
Apple set 23 October 2026 as the day iPhone Duo goes on sale, and its hinge gives games something no other iPhone has: a screen that can stand up, lie flat or fold like a book while you play. Very few games use it yet. This list only includes games whose own App Store listing or website says they support iPhone Duo. We checked every one on 9 October 2026.
On that day nobody could buy an iPhone Duo, so we have not played these games on one. The ranking follows what each maker has put in writing. A disclosure: we make Chonky Corgo. It is #3 on this list, and its entry says plainly what it does not do yet.
Which games support iPhone Duo?
Ten games have a written source behind them on 9 October 2026. Three of them, Twofold, kami and our Chonky Corgo, turn the fold itself into a controller. Three more, Tumble, Alibi and Calm Jigsaw, build layouts around the fold. The last four say they are optimized for iPhone Duo in one line of their release notes.
| Game | What it does on iPhone Duo | Source | US rating, 9 Oct 2026 | Price | Weakness |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Twofold: Pass & Play | Half folded, the raised screen hides your board. Fold shut to pass to the next player | App Store listing and the developer's site. Version 1.0 listed for 23 Oct 2026 | No ratings yet | Free to try each game once, then $1.99 a game or $4.99 for all | Not out on 9 October. It was a pre-order, so nobody had played it yet |
| 2. kami: hinge driven origami | Open and close the phone, and a sheet of paper folds with it | App Store listing, version 1.0, 30 Sep 2026 | No ratings yet | Free | Released 5 days before Apple accepted iPhone Duo apps, and the listing describes no levels or goals |
| 3. Chonky Corgo (ours) | In testing for version 2.1: 11 Playtime toys you play by folding, two pages side by side and a hinge treasure chest | Our own TestFlight build 2.1.0 (42), 8 Oct 2026 | No ratings yet | Free, with in-app purchases | The Duo version was not on the App Store on 9 October. The fold toys are a side mode that gives no rewards, since the main game is about walking. Zero ratings, and signed-in adults see a banner ad until they turn it off |
| 4. Tumble: Gravity Block Puzzle | Board on one side of the fold, pieces on the other. Stood up like a laptop, everything you touch moves to the bottom half | Release notes, version 1.1, 6 Oct 2026 | No ratings yet | Free with ads, Remove Ads $3.99 | A full-screen ad after some games, and it is brand new, first released on 5 October |
| 5. Alibi: Daily Mystery Puzzles | Unfolded, the case file opens like a book: logic board on the left, clues on the right | Release notes, version 1.0.4, 7 Oct 2026 | 5.0 from 2 ratings | Free, Alibi Bureau $9.99 a year or $19.99 once | The full case archive and unlimited hints need the Bureau, and 2 ratings say very little |
| 6. Calm Jigsaw: Puzzle for Adults | On the inner screen, the board and the piece tray sit on separate halves | Release notes, version 1.1.9, 4 Oct 2026 | No ratings yet | Free, picture packs $2.99 each | Released one day before Apple accepted iPhone Duo apps, and nothing uses the hinge itself |
| 7. Hex Armada | Optimized for iPhone Duo, with new landscape layouts | Release notes, version 1.2, 8 Oct 2026 | 5.0 from 3 ratings | Free, games with 3 or more players $4.99 | One line about iPhone Duo, so we cannot tell what changed |
| 8. Catdoku! Cat Logic Puzzles | Optimized for iPhone Duo | Release notes, version 1.1.17, 9 Oct 2026 | 4.6 from 70 ratings | Free with ads, in-app purchases up to $9.99 | Three words about iPhone Duo, plus ads and a store of extras |
| 9. Nonogram Ultra | Fully updated and ready for iPhone Duo | Release notes, version 1.12, 6 Oct 2026 | No ratings yet | Free, no third-party ads | One line about iPhone Duo and no ratings yet |
| 10. Calcudoku: Sudoku-like Puzzle | Split screen and iPhone Duo support | Release notes, version 1.41, 29 Sep 2026 | 4.7 from 1,552 ratings | Free | Released before Apple accepted iPhone Duo apps, with one line of detail |
How did we rank these iPhone Duo games?
First, by how much of the game uses the phone. A game you play by folding ranks above a layout made for the fold, which ranks above a one-line note. Second, a version dated on or after 5 October 2026, when Apple started accepting iPhone Duo apps, ranks above an older one. Chonky Corgo's place is our call.
We found the ten by reading release notes. We ran 73 searches for game words and iPhone Duo terms through Apple's public App Store search service, which returned about 11,700 listings with some repeats. We also read the release notes of the 261 games on Apple's US top free, paid and grossing charts. Not one chart game mentioned iPhone Duo.
What are the best games for iPhone Duo?
Here are the ten with our short take on each. The takes are ours, based on what each maker wrote rather than on time with the phone. Prices are US prices from each App Store page on 9 October 2026, and all ten games are free to download.
1. Twofold: Pass & Play
Twofold has the cleverest idea on this list. It is seven classic games for two or more people sharing one phone: Broadside (sink the hidden fleet), Who's Who, Liar's Dice, Codebreaker, Fog of War chess, plain Chess and Four in a Row. Half fold the phone and the raised screen covers your own board, like the lid of a game box. Fold it shut to pass, and the outer screen tells the next player it is their turn. Chess and Four in a Row are played with the phone lying flat between you.
No iPhone Duo? A Pass button does the fold's job. The catch on 9 October: Twofold was still a pre-order, listed for release on 23 October. After you play each game once, one game costs $1.99, or $4.99 for all of them.
2. kami: hinge driven origami
kami is an origami toy. Open and close your iPhone Duo and a sheet of virtual paper folds with it, with creases, stacking and the direction of the fold. You can flip the sheet, pick colours and paper sizes, and undo any fold. Without an iPhone Duo, a fold button does the folding.
Two honest caveats. kami's version 1.0 came out on 30 September, five days before Apple started accepting iPhone Duo apps, so we cannot tell if the version you download reads the hinge. And it is closer to a toy than a game: the listing describes no levels or goals.
3. Chonky Corgo (ours)
Chonky Corgo is our walking RPG: your daily steps from Apple Health power attacks on pixel monsters and move a story forward. Our iPhone Duo update, version 2.1, was in testing on 9 October and was not on the App Store. In that build, Playtime holds 11 small toys you play by folding: tuck Chonky into bed, pull back a bread catapult, play a squeezebox, puff up a campfire and more. Every toy also works with a slider on other iPhones. To find them, open Home and tap PLAYTIME.

Why #3 and not higher? The fold toys are a side mode. They give no rewards, and the main game is about walking, not folding. The App Store version on 9 October was 2.0.0, from 30 September, and it does not use the full open screen. Chonky Corgo has no ratings yet, and signed-in players 18 and older see one small banner ad until they turn it off in Settings or buy No Banner Ads.
4. Tumble: Gravity Block Puzzle
Tumble has the most careful iPhone Duo notes we found. It is an 8 by 8 block puzzle with gravity: clear a line and the blocks above fall, which can set off chains. Open wide or half folded like a book, the board takes one side of the fold and your pieces the other, and nothing you drag sits in the crease. Stood up like a laptop, everything you touch moves to the bottom half. Tumble is free with ads, including a full-screen ad after some games, and Remove Ads costs $3.99.
5. Alibi: Daily Mystery Puzzles
Alibi serves one small logic-grid mystery a day, starting with who took the office sourdough starter. On iPhone Duo the case file opens across the inner screen like a book, with the board on the left page and the clues on the right. Fold the phone shut halfway through a case and it picks up on the outer screen with every mark in place. Today's case and the last week are free. The full archive needs the Alibi Bureau at $9.99 a year or $19.99 once.
6. Calm Jigsaw: Puzzle for Adults
Calm Jigsaw is jigsaw puzzles with no timer, from 9 to 400 pieces. Its 4 October update says that on the wide inner display, the board and your piece tray sit on separate halves of the screen. That is a sensible use of a big square screen, but nothing in the game uses the hinge, and the update came out one day before Apple accepted iPhone Duo apps. Extra picture packs cost $2.99 each.
7. Hex Armada
Hex Armada is naval battle on a hex map where every shot can hit every player, you included. It plays pass-and-play with up to 12 people on one phone, which the big inner screen should suit. Its 8 October update says "Optimized for iPhone Duo" and adds landscape layouts, with no more detail. Two-player games are free, and games with 3 or more players cost $4.99.
8. Catdoku! Cat Logic Puzzles
Catdoku asks you to place one cat in every row, column and coloured region, with no two cats touching, across more than 800 puzzles. Its 9 October update opens with "Optimized for iPhone Duo." and says nothing more. It has the second-most ratings on this list, 70 at an average of 4.6, but it shows ads and sells extras up to $9.99.
9. Nonogram Ultra
Nonogram Ultra is picture logic puzzles from 5 by 5 to 10 by 15, with a daily challenge and no third-party ads. Its 6 October update says it is "fully updated and ready for iPhone Duo". That is all it says, and it has no ratings yet.
10. Calcudoku: Sudoku-like Puzzle
Calcudoku is a maths puzzle in the KenKen style, with more than 15,000 grids, and it has the most ratings here: 1,552 at an average of 4.7. Its 29 September update reads "Split screen and iPhone Duo support!". That version came out before Apple started accepting iPhone Duo apps, so treat the claim as the maker's plan until a later update.
What makes a game good on iPhone Duo?
Apple's design guidelines put it in one line: make your game playable in every device pose. Apple also asks games to change shape to fit the screen rather than add black bars. A game built with an older toolkit still runs, but Apple says it sits in the middle of the open screen with empty space around it.
The best ideas on this list go one step further and make the fold part of the fun. Twofold uses it to hide your board. kami and our Playtime toys use it as the controller. Alibi and Tumble keep everything you tap out of the crease. That is our honest tradeoff, too: a list ranked on written notes rewards makers who write good notes, and a quiet developer may have done better work than their notes show. To see what each pose does to the screen, read our guide to the seven ways to hold iPhone Duo.
Which retro emulators support iPhone Duo?
Four emulator apps have something in writing. They are not games, since you bring game files you own, so they are not ranked. RetroHandheld's 20 September update describes the best layout: fold the phone part way and the game sits above the fold, with the controls below. It is free, with a $2.99 full unlock, and 4 ratings at 3.8.
- iGBA, version 2.14.0 of 26 September: "On a foldable iPhone, L and R are off the hinge and the picture is clear of the clock." 4.4 from 2,691 ratings.
- Retroman, version 5.4.2 of 7 October: "Added support for iPhone Duo", and nothing more. $1.99, 4.4 from 100 ratings.
- Delta, the emulator that plays Nintendo DS games among others. Its makers posted a teaser on Threads on 11 September that reads "Delta Duo" and "Unfolds October 2026". On 9 October its App Store version, 1.7.3s, was still from November 2025.
Which iPhone Duo games did we leave out, and why?
We left out any game without a written iPhone Duo claim from its maker, and any app that is not a game. That cut two big names from the launch news, two games whose notes only mention fixes, a fold toy and a game that never names iPhone Duo. Here is who missed the list and why:
- Zenless Zone Zero and UnGodly. A games news site reported that both were shown to press on iPhone Duo after Apple's 9 September event. Neither maker had said so in writing by 9 October. Zenless Zone Zero's 8 September notes do not mention it, and UnGodly was still a pre-order.
- Tamii Virtual Pet and All Out. Both mention iPhone Duo, but only as fixes. Tamii says your pet stays on screen as you fold, in an update from 18 September. All Out's 8 October update lists improved window resizing on iPhone Duo.
- Foldprint, a lovely paint toy. Paint half a page, close the phone to press it, and open it to see a mirror print. Its App Store category is Graphics & Design, not Games.
- Slots & Daggers. Its notes mention foldable phones but never name iPhone Duo, and the same notes fix Android crashes.
To check a game yourself, open its App Store page and search What's New and the version history for "iPhone Duo". Check the date as well, because anything released before 5 October 2026 came out before Apple accepted iPhone Duo apps. For apps beyond games, read the best apps for iPhone Duo.
What else do people ask?
Three questions people ask before they play games on an iPhone Duo. The answers come from Apple's pages and from App Store listings read on 9 October 2026. Games update often, so check that date, and each game's version history, before you rely on any answer here.
- Do iPhone games work on iPhone Duo without an update?
- Yes, they run, but they may not fill the screen. Apple says apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier sit in the middle of the open display with empty space around them. Only apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later use the full display.
- Which iPhone Duo games use the hinge itself?
- On 9 October 2026, Twofold and kami said they turn the fold into the controller, and Chonky Corgo's Playtime toys do the same in its version 2.1 test build. Twofold was a pre-order then, and Chonky Corgo 2.1 was still in testing.
- Is Chonky Corgo's iPhone Duo version out yet?
- Not on 9 October 2026. The App Store version was 2.0.0, from 30 September. The fold toys, side-by-side pages and hinge treasure chest are in version 2.1, which was in testing on that date.
