What happens in Chonky Corgo when you miss a day

SHORT ANSWER

Short answer: you get a choice, not a reset. Chonky Corgo offers to spend a Rest Day, which holds both your streak and your corgi's Form, or you can accept the Form drop instead. Your story progress, coins, furniture and pets are never affected by a missed day at all.

This is the question people ask before installing a walking game, and most apps answer it with marketing. Here is the mechanical answer for Chonky Corgo, including the parts that are genuinely a loss.

It is written this way on purpose. An app that shelters quiet days should be able to say exactly how, and exactly what it still takes from you.

What actually happens when you miss your goal?

Chonky Corgo notices the missed day and offers two buttons: use a Rest Day, or accept the Form drop. Using a Rest Day holds both your daily streak and Chonky's Form exactly where they were. Accepting the drop lowers Form, and your next goal day starts bringing it back.

By default the app spends a Rest Day for you rather than interrupting your evening to ask. There is a setting to be asked first if you would rather make the call each time.

What is Form?

Form is a 0 to 100 number that reflects how much walking Chonky has been getting, and it changes how the corgi looks. There are five bands: Resting at 0 to 19, Waking Up at 20 to 39, Getting Stronger at 40 to 59, Ready to Walk at 60 to 79, and Top Form at 80 to 100.

Every 20 points of Form changes the sprite. Form is the thing a missed day can cost you. It is deliberately the softest currency in the game: it moves in both directions, a single goal day starts pulling it back up, and partial days count toward it rather than being rounded down to nothing.

What does a Rest Day cover, and where do they come from?

A Rest Day covers one missed day for both your streak and Chonky's Form. You earn them by stringing together goal days, and you can only hold a limited number at a time. Chonky Club members hold more. They are finite on purpose, because an unlimited one would just be a streak that never breaks.

What is never affected by a missed day?

Almost everything you actually earned. Story chapters you have completed stay completed. Coins stay in your pocket. Furniture stays in the house, keepsakes stay on the shelf, and companion pets do not leave. Regions you have unlocked stay unlocked. None of it is on a timer or a decay clock.

That is the whole design argument in one sentence: progress accumulates, and the only thing a quiet day touches is a number that grows back.

So Chonky Corgo does have a streak?

Yes. Saying otherwise would be the convenient version of this page, and a lot of walking apps write that version. Chonky Corgo has a daily streak, it is visible on the home screen, and losing a long one is still a small disappointment that no amount of design can fully remove.

What it also has is a way back. Break a longer streak and a run of goal days in a row reclaims half of it, along with Chonky's Form. The gap is forgiven rather than erased, which is a different shape from starting at zero.

What if you are away for two weeks?

You will run out of Rest Days, the streak will break, and Form will fall to a lower band. Nothing else changes. When you come back, your house is still furnished, your pets are still there, and your story is exactly where you left it. The first goal day starts the comeback.

If you want a walking app where a two-week absence costs literally nothing, that app is a step counter rather than a game, and that is a completely reasonable thing to want.

What does designing it this way cost?

A game that shelters quiet days is a game with weaker daily retention. A hard streak gives people a reason to open an app on a day they otherwise would not, and Rest Days remove some of that reason by design. That shows up in daily active numbers, and it is a real cost that we chose to pay.

We think it is the right trade, and it is a falsifiable belief rather than a slogan. Once Chonky Corgo has enough players to measure it properly, we will publish the retention difference between people who use Rest Days and people who do not, whichever way it points.

The research and the wider argument behind this design are in walking apps that do not punish you for a quiet day.

Does Chonky Corgo nag you about a missed day?

No. Chonky Corgo does not send you a notification about the steps you did not take. There is no you are 2,400 steps behind, no weekly report card, and no red unmet ring waiting on the home screen. That is the part we most deliberately did not copy.

What else do people ask?

Four questions that come up before someone installs a walking game, usually from a person who has been burned by a streak before. The answers below describe the shipping app rather than a roadmap, and where a number changes between releases the answer points at the app instead.

Does missing a day in Chonky Corgo reset my progress?
No. Story chapters, coins, furniture, keepsakes, pets and unlocked regions are all unaffected by a missed day. The only things a missed day can touch are your daily streak and Chonky's Form, and a Rest Day holds both of those.
How do I get more Rest Days?
You earn them by stringing together goal days, up to a cap on how many you can hold at once. Chonky Club members can hold more. The streak screen in the app shows your current count and the earn rate for the version you are running.
Can I turn off the Rest Day prompt?
The default is that Chonky spends a Rest Day automatically without asking. There is a setting to be asked first instead, so you can choose between using one and accepting the Form drop each time it comes up.
What is Top Form in Chonky Corgo?
Top Form is the highest of five Form bands, covering 80 to 100. Form reflects recent walking and changes how the corgi looks every 20 points. Some cosmetic items only appear when Chonky is at Top Form.
